Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open Universitywas established at Nasik, Maharashtra, by the Government of Maharashtra in July 1989 by the Act XX-(1989) of the Maharashtra State Legislature. It is the Fifth Open University in the Country (INDIA). The University is recognized by University Grant commission (UGC approved university), New Delhi of the UGC Act 1956 under section 12(B) for the purpose of Grants.

INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION

The University is awarded for Excellence for Institutional achievement in Distance Education by the Commonwealth of Learning ( COL), Canada(2002).
