About Department

The Department of Political Science was established in 1938.Post Graduate in Political Science started from 1972, Prof.Joglekar was the first Head of Department. Later, He became the Principal of the College. Then Prof S.N.Sharma, Prof.V.N.Agashe, Prof.S.R.Amravatikar and Dr.R.V.Rathod were the Head of Department in Political Science. Great thinker and famous writer Prof.Tijare and Dr.V.M.Peshwe Contributed as Guest teacher in the Department of Political Science.Todays Prof. S.R.Damodar is Working as the Head of the Department Since 1st May 2021. Political Science Department is one of the Major & grant-in-aid Department in Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University. The department regularly organizes educational study tours and educational projects in various parts of Maharashtra also Parliament house and President House of India, with the objective of expanding the latent qualities of the students, creating political awareness among them as well as creating a political research attitude. The Department of Political Science has created a distinct impression not only in the college but also in the university. So far, 33 students from the postgraduate department have secured a place in the merit list of the university by achieving spectacular achievements. At the same time, 23 students from the Department of Political Science have achieved success in the National and State Level Eligibility Test (NET / SET) conducted by UGC. Today, 22 students are serving as Professors of Political Science also 4 Principal in the colleges around the university as well as in other colleges in Maharashtra. Also, Many students of this department are working in Government and Non-Government offices from class 1 to class 4 by achieving success through competitive examinations. Various seminars, Conferences have been organized by department of political science. Two state level conferences, one National conference organized by Department of Political Science as well as one national level E-Conference organized. The department got the scope to engage the students and enhance their creativity and skills have been introduced, along with innovative methods of teaching.
